The campaign requires these details to issue your contribution receipt and complete its financial filing. An incomplete contribution may be returned.
Contribution Rules for the Province of Ontario
- Contributions can only be accepted from individuals who live in Ontario, giving their own funds. Corporations and unions cannot contribute.
- The maximum total contribution to one candidate is $1,200.
- Across all candidates for the same school board, the combined maximum is $5,000.
- Contributions over $25 cannot be made in cash. E-transfers clearly show where funds came from, which the rules require.
- If you give more than $100 in total, your name and address appear in the campaign’s financial statement, which becomes a public document.
- The campaign issues a receipt for every contribution.
- Municipal campaign contributions are not tax-deductible, and Toronto’s contribution rebate program does not apply to school board trustee campaigns.
